Digital X-Rays

Digital Apex Locator

Invisalign is a new system of straightening teeth without the use of conventional braces. A series of clear plastic aligners are utilized to create tooth movement. Moving teeth with removable aligners is not new.

However, the computer program, which can generate a series of aligners with small changes is the new part. Invisalign is recommended for orthodontic situations with mild to moderate spacing or crowding. They are virtually undetectable, easy to use and comfortable to wear.

Digital x-rays are quickly becoming the standard in dental imaging.

Digital x-rays allow the doctor to get a much better view of your teeth and potential dental conditions.  The digital imaging software allows the doctor to see a number of different views of the tooth to gain a better understanding of the proper course of management.  Digital x-rays provide a great benefit to the patient.  Not only are they an excellent diagnostic tool, but they decrease radiation to the patient by over 80%.

  • Instant accurate measurement of canal length
  • Ideal for Endodontic (root canal) therapy

NSK's new Digital Apex Locator insures great accuracy in all canal conditions and eliminates problems apparent in other Apex Locators which use analogue signals. The NSK iPex muti-frequency measuring software technology filters the irrelevant signals that can appear in curved canals or under other extraordinary circumstances. iPex also automatically select the best possible combinations of frequency to meet patient's canal conditions.

VITA EasyShade

Wireless Curing Light

Magnification Loops

The right shade of white is so important when placing esthetic restorations. At Milford Smile Designs, we use the VITA EasyShade Selection Device for selecting the right tooth shade for porcelain veneers, crowns and white fillings.

The electronic device takes the guesswork out of choosing a tooth color and is much more accurate than the human eye in detecting shade differences. This contributes to a more natural looking smile. Off- color restorations are a thing of the past!

The FlashLite Magna features characteristics that are favorable to dentists. The high power coupled with the large curing area of 11mm, allows for more rapid, efficient, and complete curing. The Magna maintains an intense output at 2mm and gradually decreases output for optimal performance.

It is ideal for all of your restorative procedures including curing composites, veneers, adhesives and more.
Giving your smile the best results in a shorter period of time.

Magnification allows you to do a better job. If you can't seeit, you can't work on it. The benefits of the loupes are immediately clear: improved working posture, reduced eye-strain, and now, with the new head light, your working view is even clearer.

CEREC is an advanced dental technology that is utilized for the restoration of decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth.  CEREC can create full crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers. The CEREC machine crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

CEREC restorations are made of compressed porcelain.  It is for this reason that they are stronger than laboratory restorations, which are layered porcelain.

Intraoral cameras are an excellent means of allowing the patient to view potential dental conditions in their own mouth.  It is much easier to understand what is happening in your mouth if you can see the problem on a computer monitor.

This digital image can be utilized to provide information to insurances and other doctors if necessary.

Air Abrasion

Electric Handpieces

For certain small cavities, Air Abrasion can mean NO needles and NO drills. It is a relatively new technology in dentistry.

A high powered stream of air, with powder, cleans decay from small cavities on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, allowing a white filling to be bonded in place. In the right circumstances it is quick, painless and conserves tooth structure. If you have any cavities that are good candidates for this procedure, we will certainly let you know. We use PrepStart air abrasion by Danville Engineering.

The panoramic x-ray, or Panorex, shows a patient's nasal area, sinuses, jaw joints, teeth and surrounding bone. It can reveal cysts, tumors, bone irregularities and more. The panoramic x-ray is also needed in the diagnosis and treatment of impacted teeth and for orthodontic treatment.

Panoramic x-rays are usually first taken when a child is about 7 years old to ascertain that all permanent teeth are present and not impacted. Early diagnosis and intervention can result in less invasive future orthodontic treatment and time in treatment.

There are basically two types of handpieces (drills), air-driven and electric. Electric handpieces are much stronger than air-driven due to the fact that a motor is spinning the bur as opposed to air. This allows the doctor to remove decay at a faster pace and will cut down on the time it takes to complete a procedure.
